Class Descriptions
Combo 1 (formerly Babies 1): A 45-minute creative movement class for preschoolers learning the basics of ballet and tap. Ages 3-4
Combo 2 (formerly Babies 2): Similar to Babies I in format, this class expands the young dancer's vocabulary and steps in ballet and tap. Ages 4-5
Combo 2B: This class is designed for those who have already taken Combo 2 (or Babies 2) but are not quite old enough yet for Combo 3. It will incorporate all of the steps of Combo 2 and will introduce more challenging vocabulary that is being used in Combo 3. Ages 4-5
Combo 3 (formerly Combo 1):
A 45-minute combination of ballet and tap with emphasis on rhythm and coordination. Ages 5-6
Combo 4 (formerly Combo 2):
An hour-long combination class of ballet, tap and jazz with emphasis on placement, musicality and choreography. The tap and jazz portion of the class will rotate every other week. Ages 6-7
Ballet:
An artistic dance characterized by grace and precision of movement.
The elaborate and formal technique is the foundation of all dance training.
Ballet 1 Beginner
Level 1A ages 7-9

Ballet 2 Beginner/Intermediate
Level 2A ages 9-11
Level 2B ages 10-12, prerequisite: Level 2A
Ballet 3 Intermediate
Level 3A ages 11-13

Ballet 4 Intermediate/Advanced
Level 4A ages 13-18
Level 4B ages 13-18, prerequisite: Level 4A
Pre-Pointe
An extension of ballet for intermediate to advanced dancers who are training to go on pointe shoes. For the safety of their ankles and growth plates in their feet, students must be at least 12 years old to be enrolled in pre-pointe and must have teacher approval.
Must be taken with two Ballet 3 or Ballet 4 classes weekly, depending on level.
Variations
This class will explore the different styles of ballet including classical, neoclassical and contemporary ballet by learning variations of renowned ballet companies' repertoire.
Tap:
Presents various sounds and rhythms made by the feet with emphasis on timing.

Drill Team:
A class designed for dancers wanting to enhance their drill team experience. This class emphasizes clean technique, precision movement, high kick routines, complex team formations and more.
Drill Team A (formerly Pre-Drill) ages 12-18:
For dancers who aspire to be on the dance team at school. Ages 12 and up
Drill Team B (formerly Jazz IV/Drill Team) ages 13-18: Designed for dancers who have had extensive dance training or are currently on a dance team at school and would like to polish their technique. Ages 13 and up
Jazz:
Stylized theatrical dancing based on many other forms of dance and influenced by American jazz music.
Jazz/Hip Hop Beginner

Hip Hop:
A recent style developed using age appropriate movement from street dance, funk and break dancing to energetic music.

DRESS CODE
Proper dress for dance class is extremely important as teachers need to be able to see a dancer's
body in order to give corrections.
Babies and Combo Classes:
Solid colored leotard (attached skirt is ok)
Pink tights
Skirt (optional)
Pink ballet shoes (leather)
Black tap shoes (no laces please)
Dance Bag would be helpful to carry shoes
Ballet Classes (Level I - IV classes):
Solid colored leotard

All shoes, including ballet shoes, should be black
Students should have their hair neatly secured, away from their face and off of the neck at all times. Please label all dance attire and shoes with your child's name.
Dancewear for all levels of classes can be purchased at Turning Pointe in August, September,
January and February only.

ANNUAL PERFORMANCE
Turning Pointe Dance Studio holds an annual themed recital in June. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience stage performance while showing family and friends what they have accomplished with all of their hard work throughout the year. Performing is optional, but strongly encouraged.
A non-refundable Performance Package will be automatically debited from your checking account, debit or credit card on the 1st of January. The exact amount will be announced in December. The Performance Package covers the following:
1. Costume including a new pair of tights, bows and accessories.
2. Recital fee that covers the cost of the production including theatre rental, backdrop and programs.
3. A trophy commensurate with consecutive years enrolled at Turning Pointe.
DANCE COMPANY
Turning Pointe offers additional training and performance opportunities through our dance
company. Dancers ages 9 and up interested in broadening their dance and performance training will love the opportunities that our company offers. Auditions will be held for placement and all dancers who participate are strongly encouraged to be enrolled in ballet, tap and jazz classes. There will be an additional fee of $25.00 per month added to tuition for company members.
Our 2006-2007 Dance Company had the privilege of performing in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Pre-Game and Half-Time Show and at The Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

REGISTRATION
A non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of enrollment for every student.
The fee is $30 per student or $50 per family. A valid credit card number or checking account number will also be required to set up automatic payments for monthly tuition in order for enrollment to be confirmed. It is understood that enrollment is from September - June.

Tuition is automatically debited from your checking account, debit or credit card on the 1st of each month.
Monthly tuition has been set based on the number of classes scheduled from September - June.
Therefore, it does not vary based on the specific classes each month.
There is a 20% discount for immediate families enrolled in classes. The child taking the most classes
will be charged the full rate. The discount will apply to any additional children in the immediate family.
There is a 5% discount when tuition is paid by the semester. (August - December and January - June)
PRIVATE LESSONS
Students who are interested in polishing their technique may opt for private lessons.
1 - 3 lessons = $50/hour
4 - 6 lessons = $45/hour
7 - 10 lessons = $40/hour
10+ lessons = $35/hour
CHOREOGRAPHY RATES
Students who are interested in competing may enlist the help of one of our instructors to choreograph the routine in the student's desired style. All choreography will be age appropriate and will be set to music with appropriate lyrics. Student, parent and choreographer must choose the performance costume together which should be tasteful as the student will be representing Turning Pointe at the competition.
$250 for a solo, duet or trio
Rate includes choreography and 4 private lessons to teach and polish the routine.
Students may request more practice time which will be available at the private lesson rate.
